For my first date night out since giving birth to my second child I was determined to go all-out glamourous, especially as it was my birthday! I didn’t know where my husband was taking me but as he had enlisted my mother and sister to help, I knew it would be special. My mother steered me away from black lipstick and encouraged me to wear red and I’m glad because it’s infinitely more glam than black (which I wear to make a moody statement) and suited the occasion – I was going to see Aladdin the Musical in London’s West End!
It took me over an hour to do my makeup because there were a few interruptions (for feeding) but I really enjoyed my playtime. Although, I had to put my nails on in the car and forgo the lashes. I’m hoping I will get quicker as time goes on!
For my eye base I used Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Cream Shadow Stick in Golden Bronze. I scribbled it on my lids and blended it out with a brush to just above the crease. To add depth to the crease I drew on PatMcGrath Labs Black Smudgeliner eye kohl and blended with a brush to get the shape and colour intensity I almost wanted – I ran out of time!
I then used my fingers to smooth on Pat McGrath Labs Gold 005 cream eyeshadow and followed by using a brush then my fingers to apply Pat McGrath Labs Gold 001 pigment on top. The combination of the cream and the pigment really makes the colour pop. I blended and repeated to make it extra bold. I finished with a wing using Pat McGrath Labs Black dual-ended marker, Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Eye Pencil in Jet on the waterline and Lancôme Hypnôse Doll Eyes mascara.
For my base I used Bobbi Brown Skin Long-Wear Weightless Foundation SPF15 in Golden Honey 5.75 on my cheeks and most of the centre of my face and Warm Almond 6.5 on my forehead and chin as these areas are darker using my Bobbi Brown Full Coverage Face Brush. I covered my dark circles using Bobbi Brown Dark Peach corrector (a Mama essential) and Bobbi Brown Instant Full Cover Concealer in Golden and I concealed the redness on my nose using Bobbi Brown Instant Full Cover Concealer in Almond and blended using my fingers and a selection of small brushes. To set my under eye concealer and the foundation around my smile lines, I baked using Huda Beauty Easy Bake Loose Baking & Setting Powder in Kunafa.
I had real fun with my cheeks! I gently contoured using the darkest shade in the By Terry Sun Designer Palette 1 – Tan & Flash Cruise. For my highlighter I applied Pat McGrath Labs Fine Gold 003 pigment from the Sublime Skin Highlighting Trio using a fine fan brush and emphasised this by patting Pat McGrath Labs balm from the Nude Shiny Stick over the top. To warm up my cheeks I brushed on Maréna Beauté Blush Tarou on No06 Marron Peach.
Nails were Kiss Glam Fantasy in Trampoline which I applied using the included tabs and I made sure I used all finishes!
